GEC 25 Year Impact Report 2026 - Flipbook - Page 8
Key Impact Metrics
Beyond the Headlines
While headline figures such as total turnover and
job creation demonstrate the scale of the Guinness
Enterprise Centre’s impact, a deeper analysis
reveals a more distinctive and differentiated model,
one defined by financial sustainability, continuous
enterprise renewal, and ecosystem connectivity.
A defining feature of the GEC is its financial
independence and sustainability.
Unlike many international incubators, the Centre
operates without annual direct State
subvention, generating its own revenues while
maintaining a not-for-profit structure. It has
recorded a surplus in 22 of its 26 years of
operation, with all income reinvested into services
and supports for client companies
In inflation-adjusted terms, this represents over
€46.7 million invested directly into supporting
startups, strengthening Ireland’s indigenous
enterprise base.
This model demonstrates that long-term,
innovation-led economic development can be
both impactful and financially sustainable.
The GEC operates without annual direct state subvention,
generating its own revenues, which are reinvested into
services and supports for client companies.
